Our charity partners

City Harvest is a food poverty charity based across London. They rescue surplus food from farms, restaurants and shops and redistribute this food to more than 350 charities across London providing thousands of people with quality and nutritious meals and food packages every week. Their unique model means every £1 we donate provides 4 meals to people in need.

As well as making donations, our team volunteers at City Harvest to help them sort food delivered and make sure it gets out to the charities.

Mind CHWF is a subsidiary of National Mind, which support people living in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest. Mind CHWF offers support tailored to the needs of different communities in these areas, including refugees, LGBTQIA+, and African and Caribbean.

The money raised by FLM is going toward the employment service offered by Mind CHWF. This service supports people who are returning to the workforce after an absence caused by poor mental health. They help people build CVs, look for jobs and prepare for interviews. We are also working with the team at Mind CHWF to run workshops and create resources which will offer financial advice.

London Sports Trust (LST) are a small charity based in Ladbrook Grove that uses sport to empower at-risk children and teenagers. LST promotes positive change by helping at-risk youth build their self-esteem through sports and education support and promoting good physical and mental health. They also support families, through cooking and nutrition workshops, and day camps during the school holidays.

FLM’s funding is going towards training new youth workers to run workshops, meaning the charity can accommodate more children at the centre. We are also contributing toward the purchase of more kayaks so they can expand their ‘kayak blades’ programme.

The Hackney Marsh Partnership run multiple youth clubs for at-risk young people across Hackney. We are specifically supporting Hackneys Concord Centre, which provides a safe place for young people to go after school and in the school holidays to be creative, learn life skills and get mental health support. 

Throughout the lockdown, the Concord Centre remained open to provide families with food and essential support. The centre has become a crucial resource in the community and has been vital in the reduction of gang-related crime and the promotion of healthy living in the communities of at-risk youth and their families.

Our donations have meant the centre has been able to hire a new part-time support worker, meaning they can accept more people into the centre on an ongoing basis.

The charity works internationally with the goal of taking children out of orphanages and back into family-based care. They also work within communities to ensure families never have to take their children out of the family home in the first place.

Our funding this year has gone to the emergency work Hope and Homes for Children have been doing in Ukraine. FLM have been supporting Hope and Homes for Children for over a decade, and our team has been privileged to see travel overseas with the charity to see the work that is being done first-hand.

Solace support women and children across London who have been victims of or are at risk of being victims of domestic violence. They provide emergency housing and support for women who have fled abusive situations to get back on their feet, back into work and ready to live independently. They also provide a huge network of support across London helping with a range of issues such as trafficking, sexual violence and financial abuse whilst also doing prevention work in schools and with young people to try and break the cycle of violence against women and girls for the next generation.

Our funding is going toward the ‘More Than Just a Room’ programme. This programme helps families settle into new homes after leaving the refuge, giving children the chance to turn their new bedrooms into safe sanctuaries and enabling families to move into a home that really feels like their own.

This year, FLM will be going into three of the refuges to run financial education workshops with the women staying there.

Little Village is a London-based charity supporting families with babies and children under five living in poverty across London. They run a baby bank network, collecting, sorting and passing on pre-loved clothes and equipment. Parents are also supported by a dedicated signposting and guidance team, who offer advice and links to other services.

FLM supports Little Village via our parental match scheme company benefit. Every time a member of the FLM team has a baby we make a donation to the charity, which goes directly to purchasing essential items for a new parent and baby in need – such as clothes, nappies and bottles.
